The Northrop Grumman CIDO Classified Solutions team is seeking a Sr. Principal Linux Systems Administrator to handle High Performance Computing (HPC) systems to support information system lifecycle activities. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site, full-time at our Melbourne, FL location.

Note: Due to the classified nature of the work being performed, this position does not offer any virtual or telecommute working options. Applicants are encouraged to apply, only if they are willing to work on-site.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform as a lead Sr. Principal Computer Systems Analyst - Linux in support of classified government contracts.

  • Monitor and report HPC system health/metrics.

  • Identify performance bottlenecks.

  • Modify system wide parameters to improve performance and evaluate the effects of those changes.

  • Perform HPC technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk evaluation, and supportability and effectiveness analyses.

  • Manage HPC system life cycle: concept, design, installation, test, operation, maintenance, and disposal.

  • Assist software developers and engineers in installing, debugging, and optimizing their software in the HPC environment.

  • Support technical users running analysis on HPC systems

  • Collaborate with Security and follow guidelines to ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies.

  • Scans, patches, and hardens the computing environment to meet customer requirements.

  • Collects, audits, and stores necessary log data for the system.

  • Develops artifacts necessary to support assessment and authorization of the system.

  • Communicate effectively with all organizational levels, internal/external customers, vendors, and senior leadership, both verbally and in writing.

  • Oversee operations and administration of multi-user computer systems and multiple networks, coordinating with IT teams, project managers, and end users.

  • Analyze requirements, recommend, and implement hardware/software solutions; interact with vendors to evaluate and troubleshoot products and services.

  • Define, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide system enhancements, including installation, upgrades/patches, monitoring, configuration management, and problem resolution.

  • Design and develop backup strategies to include backup and disaster recovery frameworks for critical systems.

  • Establish and enforce procedures for account management, file permissions, and security access.

  • Lead testing, validation, and change management for major product releases across platforms.

  • Develop, publish, and continuously improve technical standards and SOPs.

  • Ensure compliance with Information Systems security guidelines; prepare and maintain security documentation, audit logs, and Assessment & Authorization (A&A) submissions; serve as senior liaison to the ISSM.

  • Report on strategic initiatives and project status to executive stakeholders; act as a key technical advisor impacting enterprise-wide, mission-critical systems.

  • Acts as a key technical advisor to senior leadership; impacts multiple programs and missioncritical systems across the enterprise.

  • Provide senior-level technical expertise by mentoring junior and experienced team members, fostering their professional growth and enhancing team capabilities.

  • Lifts and moves equipment up to 50 pounds.

  • Work after hours, and weekends, as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree with 6 years of experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of experience; OR an Associate's Degree with 10 years of experience; OR a High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 12 years of experience is required

  • Must have a Security+ CE or higher; maintaining the required certification will be a condition of continued employment

  • Candidates must have a current US Government Secret level security clearance (or higher) in order to be considered

  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain, and maintain, a US Government Top Secret level security clearance as a condition of continued employment

  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain access to Special Programs as a condition of employment, maintaining Special Programs access will be a condition of employment

  • Experience with configuring, administering, and maintaining Red Hat or other Linux systems

  • Experience operating under, and managing systems within, NISPOM Chapter 8, DCID 6/3-ICD 503, RMF, STIG, JAFAN, or JSIG information system environments

  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current HPC systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology

  • Active Top Secret, TS/SCI, Polygraph, or SAP/SAR access would be nice to have

  • 10 years of Server Administration to include Active Directory and Group Policy in a classified environment

  • Good understanding of HPC systems design, HPC network architecture (Ethernet and Infiniband), and parallel processing optimization.

  • Programming experience with at least one high-level programming language or scripting language such as C, Fortran, Python, or BASH

  • Experience building and maintaining HPC systems and running scalable distributed application software.

  • Experience with storage clusters and/or parallel file systems.

  • Hands-on experience with HPC hardware diagnostics and repair.

  • Experience with the software compilation process (compilers, GNU Make, CMake, etc.)

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity requirements and methodologies, including a working knowledge of JSIG and STIG.

Primary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
