Job description

Ensuring Chart’s Success…

Provide site‑based EHS support and assurance while contributing to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the ISO‑aligned Integrated Management System (IMS: ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001). Deliver visible field presence (audits/inspections), incident response and investigations, and practical coaching to drive safe, compliant ways of working. 

What Will You Do?

Key Accountabilities 

A. IMS / Framework Development & Implementation 

Assist with the development, review and implementation of the Howden Australia IMS aligned to ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.  

Maintain and improve procedures, forms and templates; support document control and change management to keep site packs current and audit‑ready. (clarified from original)  

B. Field Assurance (Audits, Inspections, Permits) 

Conduct site inspections/audits of worksites, plant and equipment; identify hazards, assess risks, and verify control effectiveness.  

Verify correct use of PPE and compliance with permits to work and site standards.  

Prepare and submit site safety documentation (e.g., JSEAs, safety files) in collaboration with Service/Project Managers.  

C. Incident Response & Investigation 

Provide first‑response support to site incidents; lead/assist structured investigations (e.g., ICAM) to root cause; produce reports and corrective action plans; track closure to verify effectiveness. (method clarified)  

Record and report hazards, near misses, injuries and health issues; support trend analysis and lessons learned.  

D. Training, Engagement & Culture 

Deliver toolbox talks and targeted training topics; coach supervisors and contractors on safe work practices.  

Champion Life Saving Rules (LSRs) and Just Culture principles to reinforce safe decision‑making.  

E. Documentation, Reporting & Readiness 

Maintain accurate records (observations, audits, NCRs, VFLs); prepare monthly EHS status reports for trend analysis and management review.  

Support internal/external ISO audits and site readiness.  

F. Stakeholder Interface 

Work closely with Project/Service Managers, Engineers, site supervisors and client representatives to embed controls and resolve issues. 

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

Working Conditions / Mobility 

Regular travel to APAC project, workshop and offices and customer sites; occasional short‑notice mobilisations; work in active industrial settings.

Close‑out rate and on‑time closure of corrective actions. (aligned to reporting/trend analysis)  

Audit/inspection completion vs plan; incident investigation quality and timeliness.  

Quality and currency of site safety files and JSEAs

Your Experience Should Be...

Bachelor’s Degree in OHS, Environmental Science, Risk, or Engineering  

ISO 45001 Lead Auditor (preferred)  

ISO 14001 Internal Auditor 

ICAM Lead Investigator  

Safety in Design risk management experience 

Hazardous Chemicals Management (aligned with Safe Work Codes of Practice) 

HRWL

Understanding of environmental risk and compliance
