Job description

New Lenox School District 122 is looking to hire substitute teachers for the 2026/2027 school year. You must hold a valid substitute, short-term substitute, or PEL license in order to serve as a substitute teacher.

  • Daily Rate: $144 per day
  • No employee benefits are offered

    Become a Substitute Teacher

    Requirements:

    Meet one (1) of the following requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution
    • Currently enrolled in an Illinois approved educator preparation program with 90 semester hours of coursework completed

    How to apply for the Substitute license

    *Substitute $50 application fee, $50 registration fee. All fees processed and charged by ISBE.

    ISBE offers a Short-term SUB approval option. It is valid for 5 years and is non-renewable.

    Requires one of the following:

    • Associate's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution
    • Completion of 60 semester hours of non-remedial coursework from a regionally accredited institution

    *Short-term SUB $25 application fee, plus registration fee. All fees processed and charged by ISBE.
