Job description

The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) in Edmonton, Alberta invites applications for the role of Staff Anesthesiologist with a peri-operative medicine interest (0.8 FTE).

This is a substantive full-time position based primarily at the University of Alberta Hospital, a tertiary level trauma and transplant centre. 

Successful applicants will apply for an Academic Clinical Appointment in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. Final job description will be negotiated with the clinical department lead to fit with previous experience and interests and will include resident education. Department members can expect between 6 and 12 weeks of vacation and meeting time per year.

The Department of Anesthesiology team includes physicians, scientists, educators and allied health professionals and is a major referral centre for Northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories.  In Edmonton, the Anesthesiology group provides services to patients at the Cross Cancer Institute, Grey Nuns Community Hospital, Leduc Community Hospital, Misericordia Community Hospital, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Stollery Children's Hospital, Sturgeon Community Hospital and the University of Alberta Hospital.

Job Requirements:

Successful applicants must be certified in Anesthesiology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and must have or be eligible for independent practitioner registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). Preference will be given to candidates who do not require the CPSA Practice Readiness Assessment.
