Job Title: Psychiatry Physician

Specialty: Psychiatry (Board Certified / Board Eligible)

Place of Work (City/State): Houston, TX (VA Medical Center and associated outpatient clinics)

Start Date: 07/18/2026

Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (8-hour shifts, excluding federal holidays) 

How many shifts needed per month: Approximately 20 shifts/month (based on 5 days/week schedule)

License:

  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. State or Territory

Certifications:

  • Board Certified / Board Eligible in Psychiatry
  • BLS and ACLS certification (current)

Experience needed: Minimum 3 years of relevant clinical experience (typical expectation aligned with federal physician roles)

Special Skills needed:

  • Technical proficiency in psychiatry clinical care
  • Ability to diagnose, treat, and manage mental health conditions
  • Strong documentation and EMR skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal)

Credentialing / Onboarding time: 6 weeks to 8 weeks

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat patients with mental health conditions
  • Develop and manage treatment plans
  • Provide outpatient psychiatric care
  • Conduct evaluations, consultations, and follow-ups
  • Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation
  • Participate in peer reviews and case evaluations
  • Attend quality improvement meetings and administrative duties (~5%)
  • See approximately 6–6.5 patient care hours per day

Misc:

  • Providers must be present onsite during scheduled clinic hours
  • Must comply with VA credentialing and privileging requirements
  • Must maintain current certifications, CME, and licensure throughout contract
  • Contractor must ensure continuity of care and provide replacement coverage if needed
