What You'll Do

As a Housing Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring our residence halls remain safe, functional, and comfortable for students by:
  • Performing preventive maintenance and repairs throughout university
housing facilities.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing residential appliances, including washers, dryers, refrigerators, ovens, and other kitchen equipment. Performing plumbing repairs, including toilets, sinks, shower xtures, faucets, and drains.
  • Completing general maintenance work in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, painting, and minor renovations.
  • Responding promptly to maintenance requests through the university's computerized work order system.
  • Assisting with room renovations, installations, and facility improvement projects.
  • Inspecting housing facilities to identify maintenance concerns before they become larger issues.
  • Maintaining tools, equipment, and supplies needed to perform daily responsibilities safely and eciently.
  • Working independently or as part of a collaborative facilities team to deliver exceptional service to students and campus partners. Helping maintain the overall appearance, safety, and operational readiness of university housing facilities and surrounding grounds.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and no prior work experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of safety practices, tools, equipment, materials and supplies used in maintenance of buildings. Skills in making emergency and general repairs and adjustments to equipment used in building and maintenance work. Ability to perform heavy manual labor.

Performs maintenance and repair tasks in such areas as carpentry, masonry, electrical, and plumbing. Maintains equipment used in all parts of job. Works through work order system to complete orders as assigned.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 40 Job Duty
Trouble shoot and performs minor repairs on appliances, such as washer/dryer, kitchen appliances. Replaces as necessary. Repairs plumbing as needed. Includes toilets, shower heads and kitchen fixtures.

Performs routine cleaning of breezeways and entrances, including removing debris of exterior hallways, entrances and stairways. Blow leaves from areas. Report and damages to supervisor.
