We are seeking a hands-on Controller to manage day-to-day financial and accounting operations across a diverse public, nonprofit, and mixed-finance housing portfolio. Reporting to the Deputy CEO-Administration & Finance, this role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance, and strong internal controls.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
  • Oversee general ledger, reconciliations, payables/receivables, payroll review, and cash management
  • Prepare GAAP financial statements and HUD reports (FASS/REAC)
  • Manage budgets, cost allocations, cash flow, and variance analysis
  • Ensure compliance with HUD, GASB, IRS tax credit, and NC requirements
  • Coordinate audits and supervise finance staff
Knowledge and skills:
  • Strong knowledge of governmental, nonprofit, and partnership accounting
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-entity accounting environments, managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills and an excellent communicator
  • Capable of performing detailed accounting work while supervising
Special Requirements
  • Must possess and maintain a valid NC driver's license.
  • Drug testing, criminal background check and DMV check required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience; public/affordable housing preferred
