Position Summary:

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the housekeeping team to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, order, and appearance in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. The role involves assigning tasks, inspecting rooms and facilities, training staff, and ensuring compliance with safety and cleanliness standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Operations & Staff Supervision

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of room attendants, housepersons, and laundry staff.
  • Assign daily room and cleaning schedules according to occupancy and staffing levels.
  • Monitor progress and ensure tasks are completed on time and according to hotel standards.
  • Inspect guest rooms, corridors, and public areas for cleanliness, maintenance issues, and proper setup.


Quality Assurance

Conduct daily room checks to ensure guest rooms meet hotel cleanliness and presentation standards.

Report and follow up on maintenance issues, lost and found items, and room discrepancies.

Ensure all rooms are stocked with the correct supplies and amenities


Training & Development

Assist in training new housekeeping staff on hotel procedures, cleaning techniques, and safety standards.

Reinforce grooming, attendance, and professional behavior expectations.

Provide ongoing feedback and retraining to improve performance and consistency.


Inventory & Supply Management

Monitor usage and inventory of linens, cleaning supplies, and guest amenities.

Report stock shortages to the Executive Housekeeper or order supplies as needed.

Ensure carts, storage rooms, and supply closets are organized and clean.


Guest Interaction & Satisfaction

Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, special needs, and complaints.

Coordinate with the front desk and maintenance to fulfill guest room readiness and special setups.

Ensure housekeeping staff delivers courteous, efficient service at all times.


Health & Safety Compliance

Enforce proper use of cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Maintain adherence to OSHA standards, sanitation requirements, and hotel policies.

Conduct regular safety checks and assist in emergency procedures when needed.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in hospitality is a plus.

2+ years of housekeeping experience in a hotel or similar environment.

1+ year in a supervisory or team lead role preferred.

Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.

Proficient in using housekeeping management systems or mobile task tracking apps is a plus.
