Job description

GD Resources LLC is seeking dependable and detail-oriented Hospital Housekeeper/ Environmental Services (EVS) Technicians to support the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, Washington.

The selected candidates will perform environmental cleaning and sanitation services throughout the medical center to maintain a clean, safe, and infection-controlled healthcare environment for Veterans, visitors, and staff. Successful candidates must demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while meeting healthcare cleaning standards.

 
Key Responsibilities

The Environmental Services Technician will:

  • Clean and disinfect assigned patient care and non-patient care areas in accordance with VA environmental cleaning standards.
  • Perform routine cleaning of floors, walls, furniture, fixtures, restrooms, offices, waiting areas, corridors, and common areas.
  • Dust, damp wipe, sanitize, and disinfect all assigned surfaces.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners.
  • Restock restroom supplies and maintain restroom cleanliness throughout assigned shifts.
  • Perform high-touch surface disinfection using approved cleaning agents.
  • Follow proper infection prevention and environmental sanitation procedures.
  • Utilize appropriate warning signs for wet floors and hazardous conditions.
  • Report spills, safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, and maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Maintain assigned cleaning equipment in proper working condition.
  • Properly separate and dispose of waste in accordance with facility policies.
  • Ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and safe throughout the shift.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with Veterans, visitors, and VA staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and VA privacy requirements.
  • Comply with all OSHA, CDC, VA Infection Control, and safety regulations.
 
Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in hospital environmental services, custodial services, housekeeping, janitorial, or healthcare cleaning preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate commercial cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, bend, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
 
Required Training & Compliance

Selected candidates must successfully complete:

  • VA onboarding requirements.
  • Tier 1 Background Investigation (NACI) with favorable adjudication before beginning work.
  • Fingerprinting and credentialing.
  • VA Privacy and Information Security Awareness Training.
  • HIPAA Privacy Training.
  • Bloodborne Pathogen Training.
  • Contractor Rules of Behavior acknowledgment.
  • Any additional mandatory VA training required during the contract.
 
Work Schedule

Primary weekend coverage:

Saturday & Sunday

  • 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • 3:30 PM – 12:00 Midnight

Schedules may be adjusted based on operational requirements with Government approval.

 
Work Environment

This position is performed within an active VA medical center and requires adherence to strict infection prevention, sanitation, safety, and healthcare environmental standards.
