Job description

  1. Position Purpose

Responsible for managing the shipping, receiving and material handling functions. Effectively utilize space, people, equipment and time allotted in the most efficient manner possible to successfully maintain the flow of material.

  1. Responsibilities

2.1 General

  • Ensures that all work undertaken is carried out safely and without injury
  • Ensures Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are followed at all times (no jewelry, cell phone, nicotine in any form, etc.)
  • Ensures that all food safety issues are reported to the appropriate manager or supervisor
  • Housekeeping duties performed throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds unassisted and while standing/ walking for duration of shift
  • Develop, implement, and support Continuous Improvements Programs
  • Initiates corrective action for non-conformances
  • Actively participates in the See It, Sort It, Report It program
  • Able and willing to wear appropriate PPE as required
  • Duties as assigned per Warehouse Manger

2.2 Personnel Supervision

  • Supervise, train and evaluate all hourly warehouse employees. Administers all plant rules and complies with company policy that relates to hourly employees
  • Actively develop, mentor and coach employees to encourage growth and development of skills
  • Manage employee performance records, identifying where opportunities exist or potential disciplinary actions
  • Conduct performance reviews and provides team with regular feedback regarding performance
  • Encourage a team environment
  • Identify priorities and provide direction to the team to meet goals
  • Responsible for completion of employees training requirements
  • Encourage team members to actively participate in quality, health, safety and environmental programs relating to their roles, such as See it, Sort it, Report it
  • Conduct team meetings to review department quality, challenges, training needs, etc.

2.3 Inventory Control

  • Collaborates closely with the site management team to have line of sight for upcoming challenges that affect the warehouse environment
  • Coordinates cycle counting activities to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Participates in cross functional teams to optimize functionality of radio shuttling and racking capabilities
  • Provide internal direction for storage locations to maximize in house storage
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate, transfer, and put away finished goods to optimize storage utilization
  • Work in conjunction with Inventory Control to address cycle count requirements
  • Identify issues impacting inventory accuracy and implement plans for resolution
  • Work closely with Materials, Planning, and Customer Service to ensure all customer orders are met on time and in good order

2.4 Facilities

  • Manages the garbage and corrugate compactor agreements
  • Manages maintenance agreements for services within the warehouse
  • Actively engages with equipment and service vendors to optimize internal support
