Veterinary Technician

White Haven Veterinary Hospital is looking for a motivated, competent, kind and compassionate Veterinary Technician. We offer a great work environment with opportunity for growth in a modern state of art AAHA Accredited veterinary hospital. We are a Six Dr full service day practice located in the western Poconos at the intersection of Rt 80 and the PA NE Turnpike. Our interests are primarily small animal medicine and surgery. Experience and certification is desired.  We offer a competitive salary and benefit package (including health insurance, vacation and retirement plan along with pet care benefits).

Education:

High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

Veterinary Experience: 1 year (Preferred)

Veterinary Technician Experience: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

Veterinary Technician Certification (Preferred)

Work Location: In person

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, surgeries, and procedures
  • Monitor anesthesia during surgeries
  • Perform dental prophylaxis and cleanings
  • Administer medications and treatments
  • Handle venipuncture, IV catheterization, and catheterization
  • Conduct lab work, X-rays, and ultrasound procedures
  • Provide critical care and triage for patients
  • Assist with discharge planning and client education

Required Skills:

  • Small animal care experience
  • Fear Free Certified or willingness to become certified
  • Registered or Certified Veterinary Technician 
  • Experience with anesthesia monitoring
  • Knowledge of preventive care practices

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience with surgery assistance
  • Ability to perform dental prophylaxis
  • Proficiency in medication administration
  • Knowledge of vital signs monitoring
  • Previous experience with lab procedures

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to handle X-rays
  • Proficiency in venipuncture techniques
  • Experience with anesthesia equipment

Salary and Benefits:

  • $15.00-$23.00 an hour -Based on  Experience level.
