Washington Trust has an opportunity for an experienced commercial credit administration professional to join our Credit Risk team as a Commercial Credit Administration Manager/Analyst. This role is responsible for overseeing commercial loan documentation quality control, credit administration functions, operational risk management processes, and staff development within the Credit Risk function. The successful candidate will serve as a key resource for commercial loan documentation, regulatory compliance, operational controls, and risk management matters while supporting the Bank's commitment to strong credit governance and sound risk management practices.

Why Washington Trust

At Washington Trust, your work has visible impact; on our customers, our colleagues, and the communities we serve. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to strong credit governance, support effective commercial lending operations, and help lead process improvement within a relationship-focused community banking environment. The Commercial Credit Administration Manager will work closely with Credit Risk, Commercial Banking, internal partners, auditors, and other stakeholders to support well-controlled, compliant, and efficient lending processes.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Lead commercial loan documentation quality control efforts, ensuring documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with approved loan terms, regulatory requirements, and Bank policies.
  • Oversee key credit administration processes, including documentation exception management, annual borrower reviews, credit risk reporting, and support for criticized and workout assets.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on commercial loan documentation, operational controls, regulatory compliance, and risk management matters.
  • Support internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, record retention requirements, and operational risk management initiatives.
  • Partner with Commercial Banking and other internal stakeholders to ensure effective loan documentation, collateral management, and process execution.
  • Lead system administration, access management, vendor oversight, and other operational support activities in accordance with Bank policies and information security standards.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop team members while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial banking, credit administration, loan operations, or commercial loan documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial lending documentation, collateral perfection, UCC filings, flood regulations, and related compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, and risk management activities.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to supervise, coach, and develop employees.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across business lines.
  • Proficiency with commercial loan systems and Microsoft Office applications.
