Senior User Experience (UX) Designer
Manassas (Hybrid - Onsite 2+ days per week)
Duration - 12+ Months (Can go Multi-Year)

We are seeking an experienced Senior User Experience (UX) Analyst/Designer and Design Thinking practitioner. In this role, you will be responsible for the product design of complex financial software applications. You will collaborate closely with the product owner and product manager to analyze user and customer needs and wants, leveraging this knowledge to define highly useful product features.
You will work alongside a team of UX experts to design usable, efficient application front-ends and GUIs. Additionally, you will prepare and facilitate design thinking workshops, conduct usability tests, user tests, and customer review sessions to continuously refine designs and specifications. A key aspect of this role is collaborating with IT delivery teams to ensure that all product designs and specifications are implementable and correctly interpreted.
Key Activities
  • User Needs Analysis: Prepare and conduct user interviews, contextual inquiries, and user workshops.
  • Persona Development: Create, document, and maintain user personas to guide design decisions.
  • Journey Mapping: Perform task and activities analysis, including the creation of storyboards, user journeys, and flow diagrams.
  • Information Architecture: Execute conceptual modeling, information analysis, and information architecture, specifically in the context of complex software products.
  • Interaction & UI Design: Lead interaction design and UI design for complex software products.
  • Design Thinking: Prepare, conduct, and facilitate engaging design thinking workshops.
  • Prototyping: Build mock-ups and prototypes of GUIs for complex software products, primarily using Figma.
  • Documentation: Accurately document software front-end specifications for development handoff.
  • UX Testing: Manage the preparation, conducting, and results analysis of user testing and usability tests.
  • Evaluation: Perform product design reviews and comprehensive heuristic evaluations.
  • Advocacy: Present solutions and concepts effectively, with the ability to persuade stakeholders and drive design consensus.

Skills & Requirements
  • Minimum of 6 years (Target: 6-9 years) of professional experience in a UX role with a proven track record in software products UX design.
  • Extensive experience with Design Thinking methods and hands-on experience facilitating design thinking activities.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken, is a mandatory prerequisite. Very strong interpersonal skills to confidently facilitate UX-related discussions.
  • Strong business analytical skills; ability to quickly grasp the complex business context of a product or service, and analyze customer requirements and functional specs.
  • Strong technical vocabulary. You understand how systems work and can speak the engineers' language to bridge the gap between design and IT.
  • You are a mindful and keen observer of human behavior. Empathy is a core part of your nature, allowing you to design truly user-centric experiences.
    Financial software product design experience is a plus. General experience in software product management is a plus.
