Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for Foam MFG Manager at our Tupelo/Verona, MS manufacturing plant. This position will manage and direct the operation of the Foam MFG Department in an efficient, safe, and quality focused manner. The Foam MFG Manager is responsible and accountable for all facets of the production lines scheduling with a two-shift operation. Direct supervision of the production floor supervisor and hourly employees of safety programs to assure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and the company’s policies.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operational excellence. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential. The goal is to ensure the workplace meets all organizational and legal expectations while upholding a high standard of safety and quality.

As the successful candidate, the Foam MFG Manager will have daily communication with the Division Manager, Plant Manager, Sales Team, Department Managers and Supervisors, hourly employees as well as other Carpenter Co Personnel. This position reports to the Plant Manager.

Additional responsibilities of the Foam MFG Manager will include:

  • Manage all the department personnel and assets as well as generate a profit.
  • Identify and develop capable people with the talent to contribute to the company.
  • Manage and maintain a safe operation as per all company standards and guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain a level of quality consistent with customer expectations using Kaizen continuous improvement methods.
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications.
  • Reviews production/operating reports, resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent delays.
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Approve daily pour schedule and create daily production schedules.
  • Ensure the adherence to the daily agenda, monitor and adjust as required.
  • Review and approve all department personnel time records on a weekly and/or bi-weekly basis.
  • Ensure company policy is being communicated and adhered to.

Skills/ Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 3+ years manufacturing management experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Experience with MS Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational and negotiating experience.
  • SAP and Inventory Management experience is a plus.
  • Able to delegate duties and responsibilities effectively, as well as to monitor and direct several separate processes.
  • Ability to function under pressure is essential.
