Job Summary
Performs a variety of manual tasks to maintain County parks and structures; performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
1.Opens and closes park, maintain cleanliness in restrooms, making sure they are sanitized, replacing tissues and paper towels, and mopping the floors;
2.Check supplies and equipment: toilet paper, paper towels, toilet brush, a plunger, garden hose, cleaning disinfectant, push broom, mop, bucket, trash can liners, electric blowers, and extension cords;
3.Notify Maintenance Foreman to reorder new supplies and purchase needed equipment;
4.Report any maintenance, vandalism or unsafe conditions throughout the park;
5.Ensure the park is vacant prior to leaving each evening;
6.Monitors park participation on Saturdays and weekday evenings;
7.Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to gain working knowledge of St. Mary's County Government policies and procedures;
2. Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and various heavy equipment;
3. Knowledge of safety regulations and established procedures for operating equipment as well as for ensuring public safety;
4.Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of various construction and maintenance projects as assigned;
5. Basic math and language skills.
Education and Experience
1.High school diploma or G.E.D.
1.Must be at least 18 years old;
Work requires constant physical effort including some lifting or handling of heavy tools or materials of 60 pounds or more in addition to driving heavy vehicles.
Work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress, which require a range of safety and other precautions, e.g., extreme outdoor weather conditions.
This position is not eligible for benefits.
