Job Description

The Manager, Ride/Show Engineering provides technical management, inclusive of budget and schedule, for an attraction or attractions under an area of responsibility. Responsible for the successful specification, bid/award, design, production, shipping & logistics, installation, and acceptance testing of Ride and/or Show systems, with emphasis on Show Action Equipment (SAE), including mechanical show systems, animated figures, and special effects equipment and/or systems. Scope includes integration with Audio, Special Effects, Projection, Lighting, Set/Scenic, Props, Show Action Equipment, Animated Figures, Ride Systems, Mechanical Systems, Network Systems, Parkwide Systems, Ride Control, and/or Show Control Systems, and facilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manages in-field installation, test and adjustment of show and ride systems, with a focus on Show Action Equipment (SAE) systems such as animated figures, mechanical show elements, and special effects hardware, to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  • Reviews designs and documentation from contractors ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and specifications, with particular attention to mechanical integrity, performance, reliability, and maintainability of Show Action Equipment systems.
  • Creates scope of work documentation and awards contracts to vendors based on requirements derived from interpreting creative intent and employing Universal Specifications.
  • Leads design and production reviews at vendor locations ensuring product quality and specification conformance.
  • Develops and oversees project schedules and budgetary demands.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable technical field required.
  • 5+ years' experience in theme park engineering roles including mechanical show systems, show action equipment (SAE), animatronics, or special effects hardware.
  • Development of RFPs and vendor management preferred.
  • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in show and ride systems with emphasis on Show Action Equipment, especially as it relates to integration of new SAE with existing show action equipment and facilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage complex tasks and vendors.
  • Ability to organize and manage a complex series of tasks and vendor(s) to develop and implement ride systems and show action equipment.
  • Comfortable working in a non-routine environment with frequently changing situations
