Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisorย is responsible forย leading and coordinating all maintenance activities within a high-volume metal forming manufacturing facility. This position provides technical and administrative leadership for maintenance personnel supporting roll forming lines, presses, powder coating systems, electrical equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, automation equipment, and facility infrastructure. The Maintenance Supervisor ensures safe,ย dependable, and efficient operation of production equipment through effective preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs while driving continuous improvement initiatives that maximize equipment uptime and manufacturing performance.ย 

The successful candidate will serve as a working leader who develops maintenance personnel, coordinates maintenance resources, and partners with production leadership to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and costย objectives.ย 

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesย 

Leadership & Team Developmentย 

  • Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance technicians, electricians, and multi-craft maintenance personnel.ย ย 

  • Assign daily maintenance activities and prioritize work orders based on production requirements and equipment criticality.ย ย 

  • Conduct performance evaluations, skills assessments, and employee development planning.ย ย 

  • Ensure proper staffing levels and technical competency to support manufacturing operations.ย ย 

  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.ย ย 

Maintenance Managementย 

  • Direct and coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for all production and facility equipment.ย ย 

  • Develop andย maintainย PM schedules and maintenance standardsย utilizingย the CMMS system.ย ย 

  • Monitor equipment performance andย identifyย opportunities to improve reliability and reduce downtime.ย ย 

  • Lead troubleshooting efforts during equipment failures and major production interruptions.ย ย 

  • Coordinateย maintenanceย shutdowns, equipment installations, upgrades, and capital projects.ย ย 

  • Manageย maintenanceย work order completion, documentation, and follow-up activities.ย ย 

Technical Equipment Responsibilitiesย 

Provide leadership and technical support for maintenance activities involving:ย 

  • Roll forming lines and roll tooling systemsย ย 

  • Mechanical and hydraulic pressesย ย 

  • Powder coating systems and finishing equipmentย ย 

  • Conveyor systems and material handling equipmentย ย 

  • Hydraulic power units, pumps, valves, and cylindersย ย 

  • Pneumatic controls, air compressors, and distribution systemsย ย 

  • Industrial electrical systems up to 480Vย ย 

  • PLC-controlled equipment and automation systemsย ย 

  • VFDs, motor controls, sensors, relays, and safety circuitsย ย 

  • Welding equipment and fabrication machineryย ย 

  • Facility utilities, HVAC systems, and building infrastructureย ย 

Reliability & Continuous Improvementย 

  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for recurring equipment failures.ย ย 

  • Implement Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and reliability-centered maintenance practices.ย ย 

  • Analyze downtime data andย establishย corrective actions to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).ย ย 

  • Develop and trackย maintenanceย KPIs including uptime, PM completion rates, MTBF, and maintenance costs.ย ย 

  • Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.ย ย 

  • Identifyย and implement equipment upgrades and process improvements.ย ย 

Safety & Complianceย 

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and company safety policies.ย ย 

  • Enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, arc flash, and confined space procedures.ย ย 

  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.ย ย 

  • Ensure maintenance personnel areย properly trainedย and qualified for assigned tasks.ย ย 

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable quality and regulatory standards.ย ย 

Qualifications

Required Qualificationsย 

  • High School Diploma or GEDย required;ย Associate Degreeย or Technical Certification preferred.ย ย 

  • Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.ย ย 

  • Minimum 3 years of maintenance leadership or supervisory experience.ย ย 

  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems.ย ย 

  • Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and industrial controls.ย ย 

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.ย ย 

  • Experience with CMMS software and maintenance planning systems.ย ย 

  • Proficiencyย in Microsoft Office applications.ย ย 

Preferred Qualificationsย 

  • Experience in roll forming, metal stamping, metal fabrication, automotive manufacturing, or related metal forming industries.ย ย 

  • Knowledge of powder coating systems and finishing operations.ย ย 

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, VFDs, robotics, and industrial automation.ย ย 

  • Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, or Reliability certifications.ย ย
