Salary Range: $100,000-$145,000 + equity

We're looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to join a growing technology company and take ownership of payroll operations while partnering closely with Finance, HR, and executive leadership. Payroll Manager Responsibilities

• Own full-cycle, multi-state, and international contractor payroll processing, including hourly, salaried, bonus, commission, reimbursements, deductions, and other payroll transactions
• Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with federal, state, local, and international regulations
• Review and audit payroll inputs including timecards, PTO, leave balances, overtime, compensation changes, benefits deductions, tax updates, and garnishments
• Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation to support compliance, reporting, and audit requirements
• Prepare payroll reports for Finance, HR, FP&A, and leadership teams
• Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
• Manage payroll tax compliance, including W-2s, federal/state/local filings, ACA reporting, amendments, and related requirements
• Oversee 401(k) payroll deductions, employer contributions, reconciliations, and related documentation
• Troubleshoot payroll system issues and partner with internal teams and external providers to improve workflows
• Support payroll audits, tax reviews, workers’ compensation reporting, and other compliance initiatives
• Partner with Accounting and FP&A on payroll expense tracking, headcount reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Develop and improve payroll policies, procedures, reporting tools, and best practices

Payroll Manager Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience
• Strong full-cycle payroll ownership experience
• Multi-state payroll experience
International payroll experience required
• Experience with PEO/EOR providers or payroll systems such as Rippling, TriNet, Deel, Multiplier, or similar platforms
• Strong payroll accounting knowledge, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close support
• Experience processing complex payroll items including bonuses, commissions, benefits, deductions, and reimbursements
• Strong systems aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot issues and improve processes
• High attention to detail with strong documentation and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across Finance, HR, and leadership teams
• Self-starter who takes ownership and can operate independently with executive-level visibility
