This role offers flexibility for both employers and writers, allowing for adaptable schedules and the ability to work from anywhere with internet access. Content writers may specialize in different industries or topics, depending on client needs. Reliable communication and strong writing skills are essential for success in this field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an hourly remote content writer?

To thrive as an Hourly Remote Content Writer, you need excellent writing, research, and grammar skills, often supported by a relevant degree or portfolio of published work. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress, SEO tools, and collaboration platforms such as Google Workspace is typically required. Strong time management, self-motivation, and adaptability are essential soft skills for remote work environments. These skills ensure high-quality, engaging content is delivered consistently and efficiently, meeting client expectations and deadlines.

What are some common challenges faced by hourly remote content writers, and how can they be addressed?

Hourly remote content writers often face challenges such as managing their time effectively, maintaining consistent communication with clients or editors across different time zones, and adapting quickly to varied writing styles or topics. Building strong relationships with clients and being proactive about asking for feedback can also help navigate these challenges and ensure long-term success.

Job description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology.

Come be a part of what's next. Netflix isn't just a product - it's a global entertainment engine. We create original shows and films, license stories from around the world, and invest billions in content every year.

Behind all of that is a sophisticated financial ecosystem: FP&A, content planning, production finance, and more. These teams rely on timely, trustworthy data to decide what we make, where we invest, and how we shape the future of Netflix. The Content Finance DSE team is the analytical backbone of that ecosystem.

We build the data products, metrics, and insights that power how Netflix allocates content budgets, tracks production finance, and steers long-term content investment strategy. We're looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to join our team - someone who combines deep technical craft with strong business partnership and a product mindset. In this role, you will: Be a strategic partner to Content Finance stakeholders - CFP&A, content planning, production finance, and content accounting - identifying impactful analytical problems and delivering data solutions that drive better decisions Own business-critical data products end-to-end: from metric definition and data modeling to documentation, testing, and ongoing reliability Champion a "data as a product" mindset - setting the standard for robust documentation, testing, and model design that makes data easy to understand, trust, and extend Design and maintain core metrics and semantic models that power planning cycles, forecasting, and executive reporting Drive root-cause analysis on data issues and workflow gaps - asking "why" to understand the drivers and proactively improve pipelines, models, and definitions Partner cross-functionally with Data Engineering, Finance, Data Science, and downstream consumers to define the future vision for key finance data products Mentor and uplevel teammates, sharing best practices in analytics engineering, code quality, and product-minded data development Leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, MCP servers) to accelerate development and share learnings with the team About you: 8+ years of experience in analytics or data engineering, ideally in high-stakes, business-critical data environments Expert in SQL; proficient in Python for data wrangling, scripting, and pipeline work Strong data modeler with experience designing scalable, future-proof models that serve multiple stakeholders and use cases Familiarity with DBT or other semantic modeling tools; experience with workflow orchestration You have a "data product owner" mindset - you think beyond the pipeline to the end user, the decision they need to make, and how the data product unlocks value Exceptional communication skills; comfortable presenting methodology and findings to both technical and non-technical partners, including executive leadership Proven ability to drive cross-functional alignment on metric definitions and data standards in a matrixed organization Comfortable operating in ambiguity; a self-starter who takes ownership and drives projects forward with minimal oversight Curious and open to leveraging GenAI and emerging AI tools where they create durable value Netflix culture resonates with you Nice to have: Experience working with financial datasets, FP&A workflows, or content finance systems Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Iceberg) and lakehouse architectures Familiarity with LookML or other semantic layer tools Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses

You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $330,000.00 - $566,000.00

This compensation range will vary based on location. Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs.

Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off. Full-time salaried employees are immediately entitled to flexible time off. See more details about our Benefits here.

Netflix is a unique culture and environment. Learn more here. Inclusion is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates.

If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner. We are an equal-opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognizing that diversity builds stronger teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully.

We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service. Job is open for no less than 7 days and will be removed when the position is filled.
