ROLE PURPOSE / POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations to safely deliver high-quality products that meet customer requirements and production objectives. This role provides direct leadership to hourly production team members while driving performance in the areas of safety, food safety, quality, productivity, service, and employee engagement.
The Production Supervisor partners with cross-functional teams to execute production plans, maximize operational efficiency, develop team capability, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety Leadership
  • Promote and maintain a culture focused on employee safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to company safety policies and safe work practices.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead safety training and engagement activities.

Production Operations
  • Direct daily production activities to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and service objectives.
  • Manage staffing, equipment utilization, and production schedules.
  • Monitor performance and address operational issues proactively.
  • Support startup, changeover, and operational readiness activities.
  • Drive efficient utilization of labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Support productivity, waste reduction, and cost performance objectives.
  • Protect company assets through proper equipment operation and procedures.
  • Communicate objectives, policies, expectations, and operational priorities.
  • Partner with Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Planning teams.
  • Maintain production documentation and reporting.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop hourly production associates.
  • Conduct performance management activities.
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Support onboarding and ongoing employee development.

Quality & Food Safety
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, GMP, sanitation, HACCP, and customer requirements.
  • Reinforce quality standards and verify product specifications are met.
  • Escalate and address food safety and quality concerns.
  • Support corrective action and continuous improvement initiatives.

Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze operational metrics and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implement action plans to address performance gaps.

QUALIFICATIONS / CAPABILITY PROFILE
Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Food Science, or related field preferred.

Minimum Experience
  • 3+ years of manufacturing, production, or operations experience required.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Food manufacturing, packaging, or consumer products experience preferred.
  • Experience leading hourly workforces preferred.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Position is based onsite in a food manufacturing and packaging facility.
  • Frequent exposure to production environments, moving machinery, food allergens, varying temperatures, and elevated noise levels.
  • Must be available to support varying shifts, overtime, weekends, and business needs as required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the production facility.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access elevated platforms when necessary.
  • Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to wear required PPE.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated, ambient, and warm production environments.
