Job description

Pit Operator

Operators are responsible for processing various materials in a solidification pit. This includes the use of other powered industrial equipment such as forklifts and wheel loaders. This position could report to our High Point or Thomasville locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
  • Responsible for the unloading and loading of wastes in conformance to company rules and regulations
  • Offloads and Check-in inbound waste streams
  • Load, unload, and sample solid and liquid waste safely in accordance with Company, federal, state, and local regulations/rules
  • Check for inconsistencies with manifested types and quantities with actual containers received in accordance with Company rules and regulations
  • Operate heavy machinery in confined areas
  • Operate a fork truck with attachments
  • Must perform daily PM and inspections on operating equipment
  • Perform basic operator maintenance
  • Perform basic spill cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed
  • Responsible for keeping work areas, walls, pit drain, and floor in a clean and safe condition
  • Position handles materials and will often require the use of PPE: Boots, Gloves, Suits, Eye/Ear/Head Protection, and Respirator
  • Shovels, sweeps, and cleans the area in which they are assigned periodically throughout the day
  • Identify and report safety hazards.
  • Any other duty assigned by Management.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of shipping receiving and warehouse experience
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • The ability to operate a forklift and other heavy equipment
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Lift 51 lbs. unassisted
  • Basic math, reading comprehension and writing skills
  • Manages time effectively
  • Ability to work in a dusty environment doing repetitive motions in any weather
  • Ability to work independently or as a team
  • Dependable
