Job description

Purpose and Scope:

Performs traffic management cargo handling duties. Operates general and special purpose vehicles, materials handling equipment and cranes. Transports, handles and processes cargo for transportation modes. Loads/offloads 463L pallets, containers and trucks. Ensures compliance with the applicable USAF mandatory requirements. Ensures compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Prepares freight offered for shipment to include packing, crating, weighing, marking, labeling and documenting cargo. Ensures hazardous materials are properly inspected, documented and certified.

  • Prepares and handles cargo in accordance with all prescribed regulations, instructions, technical orders and procedures.

  • Prepares with limited assistance all required shipping documents for all cargo offered for transportation. Assigns/obtains Transportation Control Numbers (TCN). Maintains a TCN log.

  • Assists in maintaining WRM and operational stock levels of all 463L assets.

  • Loads/offloads all 463L pallets, containers and trucks in a timely manner.

  • Inventories and inspects all incoming freight for damage prior to acceptance. Reports discrepancies to supervisor.

  • Inventory, document, and load outbound freight into containers, and/or load cargo onto trucks.

  • May use automated computer systems and programs to process and document all freight.

  • Operates and positions Material Handling Equipment (MHE), wide body loaders and cranes to load/offload trucks, containers and pallets in accordance with prescribed procedures.

  • Safely transports explosives from storage facilities to flight line explosive parking marshaling areas.

  • Maintain publications, forms, and files required for traffic management and air terminal operations, as required.

  • May operate computers, printers, and fax machines.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience supervising a diverse international workforce is desired.

  • Previous experience in logistics/shipping field preferred but not required.

  • Must have organizational skills.

  • Must be able speak, read, and write English at a beginner level.

  • Familiarity with Supply, TMO and air cargo documentation is preferred.

  • Must possess a valid home country driver's license and ability to obtain a host nation driver's license.

  • Will be required to operate material handling equipment.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust U.S. Government Clearance.

  • NOTE: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • Works in a normal office and maintenance shop or warehouse environment and may be required to work outdoors for extended periods.

  • May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.

  • Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to prescribed procedures and as required for task being performed.

  • Physically capable of performing all required duties; capable of lifting/pushing/pulling minimum of 50 lbs. and performing extensive work handling/lifting equipment.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
