Job description

Tri-County Special Education Association is seeking a dedicated and reliable Paraprofessional to support our students and staff in Hartsburg-Emden School District.  This position plays a key role in providing academic, behavioral, and social support to students throughout the school day, including during classroom instruction and unstructured times such as lunch, recess, or transitions.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist classroom teachers by working with students individually or in small groups to reinforce instructional material.
  • Provide behavior support and posive reinforcement to students, including those with IEPs or 504 Plans.
  • Supervise and engage students during unstructured times with the abiity to take initiative, lead, and maintain control in a calm and respectful manner.
  • Help manage student behavior and provide redirection as needed to ensure a safe and productive environment.
  • Support students with physical or personal needs if required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold school policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the teacher or administration.


Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Illinois State Board of Education Paraprofessional License
  • Ability to take direction and work independently when needed
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Must be patient, dependable, and committed to student success
