Job Description
HPC-Industrial, powered by Clean Harbors, is looking for a Travel LDAR Technician III to join their safety conscious team at various customer sites! The Travel LDAR Technician III identifies, documents, and tags fugitive emissions (gas leaks) from industrial components like valves and pumps, ensuring compliance with EPA regulations. They use specialized equipment-such as Toxic Vapor Analyzers (TVAs/Method 21) or Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) cameras-to monitor, report, and facilitate repairs in refineries, chemical plants, and oil/gas sites. Ensure compliance with all Company policies/procedures and maintains/improves good customer relations by providing quality, timely industrial cleaning services.

Travel:
  • This is a 100% Travel position - traveling to a specific clients locations in MS, AL, FL, and GA. Daily Per Diem when traveling. Accommodations arranged by company.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring that Health & Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies always, & processes & acting in a safe manner
  • Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting, pulling & pushing heavy objects.
  • Field Inspections: Perform routine, scheduled inspections of components (valves, connectors, pumps, tanks) to detect leaks of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
  • Monitoring Equipment Operation: Operate, calibrate, and maintain analyzers (e.g., Flame Ionization Detectors - FID).
  • Data Management & Reporting: Record inspection data, tag leaking components, and manage inventory within databases like LeakDAS, GuideWare, SkyBridge
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to environmental regulations (e.g., 40 CFR Subpart 60) and strict site safety protocols.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with maintenance teams to report leaks and verify repairs.
  • The role is physically active and often involves traveling to remote sites or working within complex, loud industrial environments. It is described as a detail-oriented, sometimes repetitive, but critical role for environmental protection.

Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of Leak Detection and Repair experience, in an industrial setting - Refinery, Petro-Chemical, Utilities, Pulp and Paper Mills, etc., required
  • Must be able to wear protective clothing or equipment. This includes, but is not limited to Nomex coveralls, a back belt, slicker suits, rubber boots, a fresh air breathing mask & escape pack & a hard hat.
  • Must be able to work under extreme climate conditions (excessive high heat index of 95+ degrees Fahrenheit, 98% humidity & subzero weather conditions) relative to geographic location.
  • Must be able to withstand exposure to dust, chemical & environmental, fumes (chemical & fluids), exhaust & highly pressurized fluids.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to walk long distances, stand for extended periods, climb ladders/scaffolding (sometimes up to 100 ft), and lift up to 60 lbs.

Qualifications
What does it take to work for HPC-Industrial?
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • TWIC, preferred
  • Confined space entry & 10 Hour OSHA Training (preferred).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and able to work independently.
