The Hourly Lpn Unit Manager combines clinical skills with supervisory responsibilities, overseeing nursing staff and ensuring quality care. In contrast, a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) primarily provides direct patient care. The manager role involves administrative duties, staff coordination, and operational oversight, while the LPN focuses on bedside care. Both roles require an LPN license, but the manager position also demands leadership and management skills.

Can an LPN be a unit manager?

An LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) typically cannot serve as a unit manager, as this role usually requires a registered nurse (RN) license and additional leadership experience. LPNs often support patient care under the supervision of RNs or RNs in management positions. However, some facilities may have specific policies or require additional certifications for LPNs to take on supervisory or managerial responsibilities.
