Network or Electronics Engineer
20% to 100% Travel / Full-Time
Position Overview
Crown is seeking a Network or Electronics Engineer to support FAA electronic system installation projects and VOIP telecommunications infrastructure across FAA-aligned regions within the United States.
This role is responsible for engineering, planning, and executing communications system installations and upgrades, including radio systems, VOIP, telecommunications infrastructure, and associated facility components. The selected candidate will manage projects from initiation through closeout, ensuring compliance with technical, regulatory, and operational requirements.
This position requires 20% to 100% travel and is assigned to a geographic region aligned with FAA operational boundaries. Candidates may work remotely.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Execution
• Manage FAA telecommunication and other electronic system installation projects from initiation through completion
• Execute all five project phases: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, and Closing
• Provide cost estimates and procure all required installation materials
• Communicate regularly with project stakeholders and manage change requests
• Deliver project plans, engineering design packages, and risk mitigation strategies
• Coordinate with project managers, financial analysts, and installation teams
• Support project closeout activities with facility managers, ensuring scope alignment
Engineering & System Design
• Develop engineering implementation plans, instructions, and design packages
• Review facility drawings and documentation including structural, electrical, Telco, and signal flow schematics
• Conduct initial site surveys to assess facility conditions and resource requirements
• Engineer installations at FAA federal facilities including ARTCC, ATCT, BUEC, RCAG, RCL, RCO, RTR, and Mobile Communication Vehicles
Installation & Technical Oversight
• Support installation and upgrade of communications systems including:
• Radio equipment
• Radio racks
• Telco equipment
• Antennas
• RF cables
• Grounding systems
• Junction boxes
• Lightning protection systems
• Towers, poles, and platforms
• General facility construction
• VOIP/VCS system
• Coordinate with electronic installation teams to ensure requirements are met and materials are available onsite
• Conduct pre-installation meetings and support installation readiness
Electronic Systems Integration
• Work with complex electronic equipment systems
• Support switching systems, copper telephone lines, coaxial cable, and fiber optic links
• Perform electrical troubleshooting and system validation
Minimum Required Qualifications
• U.S. Citizenship (required for government contract work)
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or six (6) years of relevant technical experience (equivalent military training may be considered)
• Ability to travel 20% to 100%
• Ability to climb antenna towers up to 100 feet
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints
• Ability to pass a government background check and meet federal background investigation requirements
• Must possess a valid, current driver's license
• Must have access to a credit card with sufficient credit to cover travel expenses (reimbursed per company policy)
Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 years of experience delivering engineering implementation plans, engineering instructions, and CAD drawings
• Experience working on FAA facilities
• Strong understanding of manual and power tools
• Experience using test equipment including communication test sets, multimeters, ohmmeters, power meters, mega-ohms meters, Anritsu, and similar tools
• Electrical troubleshooting experience
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
• Ability to climb towers up to 100 feet
• Ability to work in field environments and at height
• Ability to work with tools, test equipment, and construction materials
• Ability to travel and support field-based installations as required
Travel Requirements
• Travel requirement: 20% to 100%
• Travel aligned to FAA regional assignments
• Employees are required to cover travel-related expenses in advance, which are reimbursed in accordance with company policy
Compensation
Communications Electronics Engineer - $35.00 - $57.00 hrs. equivalent
Compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.
