Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions: Lead operator of a Gradall excavator used to grade roadside drainage ditches; serves as a working supervisor; directs a crew engaged in the maintenance of the City's storm water drainage system; coordinates the tasks of field personnel in support of Gradall operations; transports personnel and equipment to and from job sites; practices and enforces safety regulations.
Other Job Functions: Performs other duties as required. Job description statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this job title. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.
Working Conditions
This position requires 100% on-site work. Works outside in all kinds of weather including extreme cold, heat and temperature swings; exposed to extreme and constant noise, dust, dirt and traffic hazards. Must be available to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Must be available to work extended hours as needed. Subject to 24 hour call out. Position considered essential during emergency situations.
Minimum Essential Qualifications
Knowledge: Considerable knowledge of the methods and techniques of Gradall operation, drainage ditch construction and excavating in close proximity to underground utilities.
Skills/Abilities: Skilled in the efficient and precise operation of Gradall excavators; ability to supervise the work of others; ability to read and write; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to interpret construction diagrams and sketches; ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationships with supervisors, employees and the public.
Physical Requirements: Constantly sees and hears; frequently operates a calculator, cleans, climbs, drives, kneels, sits, squats, stands, stoops, twists body, walks, writes by hand, carries objects weighing up to 50 lbs., drags and lifts objects weighing up to 100 lbs., holds objects weighing up to 10 lbs., pulls and pushes objects weighing up to 200 lbs., infrequently crawls.
Education/Experience: High school graduate or equivalent; minimum two (2) years' experience in operating Gradall excavators and working in a drainage related field.

This position requires 100% on-site work. Must possess a valid Class A-CDL or B-CDL driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver's License equivalent to Texas Class A-CDL or B-CDL with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver's license. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
