Job description

The University of Virginia is seeking Registered Nurses to administer influenza vaccinations in clinic and workplace settings to support the organization's annual Flu campaign.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Administer influenza vaccinations in accordance with clinical protocols, standing orders, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform pre-vaccination screening, contraindications, and consent.
  • Provide education on influenza vaccines, potential side effects, post-vaccination care, and when to seek medical attention.
  • Assist with Flu campaign operational planning/set up activities.
  • Monitor for adverse reactions and provide appropriate clinical response as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of vaccine administration, lot numbers, expiration dates, and vaccination record.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, OSHA, and HIPAA, standards at all times.
  • Properly store, handle, and manage vaccines per manufacturer and organizational guidelines.

Nurses may work across various healthcare settings, such as hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and community health organizations.
Position Compensation: $49.00 Hourly
Weekly Hours: 12 hours/week on average. With peak times occurring at the end of September through October offering up to 20 hours/week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program.
Experience: 3 years relevant experience
Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. BLS Certification. Valid Virginia Driver's License (VADL) may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods and frequently traveling. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
