Job Zone: Hourly

Reports to: Plastics Operations Manager

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Three openings: 1 per shift, A, B, and C (10% shift premium for both B and C shift)

Hours per week: 40 Plus

Overtime & Weekends required: Yes, as required

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Injection Mold Machine (IMM) Operator visually inspects, does some manual operations and boxes plastic parts as they are ejected from molding presses

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the molding of small to midsize plastic parts to job packet requirements
  • Visually identifying and separating visually nonconforming parts
  • Performing manual operations as specified
  • Daily checking and understanding of posted job assignments and necessary information related to the job
  • Communicate with Product Handler or Shift Supervisor to trouble shoot any problems with job
  • Obtain any supplies or documentation if needed
  • Maintain proper quality and quantities of molded materials
  • Visually inspect parts during press run
  • Take appropriate action when bad parts are identified
  • Maintain accurate counts and documentation such as records and labels
  • Understand and comply with 5s duties and checklists
  • Prepare incoming shift such as making up boxes and provide packaging materials
  • Assist in training as requested
  • Notify supervisor of all unsafe / hazardous conditions or defective equipment and file incident/accident reports in accordance with established policies
  • Rotate from one job to another if needed
  • Utilize six-sigma quality tools, when appropriate, to define, measure, analyze, improve and control processes and outcomes.
  • Responsible to maintain & support processes, procedures & K.P.I.’s owned by your position.
  • Review of all procedures related to your job per “HR LG 01 Training Matrix”
  • Completion within time stated of all training required by Job Description in “HR LG 01 Training Matrix”
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.

  • Read, write and speak English

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 18 years old
  • Understand and follow directions
  • Attention to small detail
  • Ability to record data
  • Knowledge of visual discrepancies in plastic molded parts

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where all areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and other mandatory safety equipment.
  • For the most part, ambient temperatures with typical plant lighting and manufacturing equipment are present throughout the facility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sit or stand as needed.
  • Walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day.
  • Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting as required to reach documents or store materials throughout the workday.
  • Proper lifting techniques required.
  • Ability and comfortability to work in small confine spaces while following proper safety protocol.
  • Ability to accomplish the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
