Job description

Terms of Employment: Casual/Seasonal Benefits Type: Non- Benefited - Casual/Seasonal Reports To: ESL Coordinator Salary: Commensurate with the Brandywine School District's Casual/Seasonal Salary Schedule
(Tutor Tier Rates - based on degree)

Job Goal:  To support identified English Language Learners by providing direct English language instruction and push-in support during content area class time or courses.


Job Qualifications: 

  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  2. Bilingual or multilingual.
  3. Work experience in ESL education or related field.


Essential Functions: 

  1. Provide individual and/or group English language instruction to ELL students utilizing ESOL strategies and the designated English language curriculum under the supervision and guidance of the ESL coordinator.
  2. Provide ESL push-in support to identified ELL's during regular class time and/or during the subject content areas utilizing ESOL strategies, the WIDA standards, and best practices for ELL's.
  3. Become a certified ACCESS Test Administrator and assist with test administration in the beginning/end of the school year.
  4. Assist with the selection and implementation of state test accommodations during state and/or district testing windows.
  5. Collaborate with classroom teachers of ELL students on a regular basis in order to tutor and/or co-teach ELL students in the regular classroom.
  6. Adapt instructional materials as necessary to meet the needs of ELL students.
  7. Assist with task of keeping accurate files and records of district-wide ELL students.
  8. Serve as an interpreter for parents and ELL students in the home school, or anywhere in the district as needed (i.e. parent teacher conferences, state testing, IEP meetings).
  9. Attend appropriate district staff development and approved in state or out of state professional development to stay abreast of current issues.
  10. Communicate with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators on student progress as per district-developed practices.
  11. Participate and assist students/parents during school related events such as workshops, after school activities, and open houses.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
