Job description

Offshore Welder

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Offshore Welder to perform topside welding, fabrication, and repair work on offshore platforms and facilities in the Gulf of America. This role focuses strictly on surface-level (non-subsea) operations, ensuring structural integrity and reliability of equipment in a challenging offshore environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform welding using SMAW (Stick), GTAW (TIG), and GMAW (MIG) processes on offshore structures and piping systems
  • No underwater or subsea welding required; all work is performed topside on platforms or vessels
  • Fabricate, assemble, and repair structural components, handrails, decks, piping, and equipment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure quality, integrity, and compliance with specifications
  • Operate cutting torches, grinders, and other fabrication tools
  • Assist with fitting and alignment of pipes and structural components
  • Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper storage and handling of materials
  • Follow all safety standards, including OSHA, API, and offshore regulatory requirements
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety drills, and emergency response procedures
  • Collaborate with maintenance crews, engineers, and supervisors to complete projects efficiently

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in offshore, industrial, or marine welding (topside work)
  • Valid welding certifications
  • Ability to pass a welding test and offshore medical/physical exam
  • Strong knowledge of welding procedures, materials, and safety practices

Preferred

  • Previous experience on offshore oil & gas platforms in the Gulf region
  • Experience with pipe welding and structural steel fabrication
  • TWIC card
  • BOSIET and/or HUET certification
  • Basic rigging and mechanical skills

Work Environment

  • Offshore rotational schedule (e.g., 14/14 or 21/21 hitch)
  • Work conducted entirely above water (topside) on fixed or floating platforms
  • Exposure to harsh environmental conditions (heat, humidity, wind, noise)
  • Physically demanding work requiring lifting, climbing, and working at heights
  • Travel by helicopter or crew boat
