Job description

OVERVIEW
JOB TITLE: Digital Content & Analytics Assistant
LOCATION: St. Paul Campus
PAY RATE: $16.50-17.50/ hour
HOURS:Up to 8-10 hours per week. Must be able to work 2-3 days per week for at least 90 minutesat a time. Flexible scheduling around classes. JOB SUMMARY
The PR/Communications team within the University of St. Thomas Marketing, Insights and Communications department is seeking a student interested in websites, analytics, search and digital content to help strengthen the performance and usability of the St. Thomas Newsroom.
The Digital Content & Analytics Assistant will help track how audiences find and engage with Newsroom content and use that information to improve content performance. The student will gain hands-on experience with website analytics, search engine optimization (SEO), WordPress, digital accessibility and content strategy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Track and report on Newsroom website traffic, audience engagement and content performance.
  • Help identify high-performing content, traffic sources, search trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct keyword research and help optimize headlines, summaries, metadata and existing content for search.
  • Publish and update content in WordPress.
  • Review pages for metadata, links, formatting, alt text, accessibility and other quality issues.
  • Help update landing pages and other Newsroom content.
  • Use basic HTML/CSS, when appropriate, to help troubleshoot or improve digital content.
  • Help turn website and search data into recommendations for future content.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Interest in websites, analytics, SEO, digital content or technology.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Computer Science, data or business analytics, marketing, communications, web design, UX/UI and related majors are especially encouraged to apply, but students from any major are welcome.
  • Experience with website analytics, SEO tools or WordPress is helpful but not required.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS is preferred but not required.

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
