Job description

The Church Receptionist is the first point of contact for guests. Providing assistance by welcoming guests and helping people access requested information. This position will provide office operational support and administrative assistance. The incumbent also maintains a calm, orderly, and pleasant work environment in the church office. The following descriptions are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. 

Compensation:

$15 - $17 hourly


Responsibilities:
  • Opens reception office promptly at the assigned time each morning

  • Proactively gathers relevant information and remains knowledgeable about Summit events, departments, and special events

  • Courteously greets, screens, receives, and directs visitors while appropriately responding to church entry access requests 

  • Answers phone calls in a timely manner during business hours and directs callers to appropriate staff or takes a message, if needed 

  • Maintains an orderly reception area

  • Responsible for training and scheduling coverage when absent

  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service of the organization, to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors' names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information

  • Distributes benevolence forms to individuals requesting assistance, collects and appropriately forwards completed forms

  • Assists with handiwork projects from various church departments as needed

  • Reviews / responds/redirects church email and voicemail 

  • Monitors and directs voicemails during extended church closure

  • Maintains up-to-date changes to the phone recordings regarding service times, closings, and special events

  • Makes telephone calls for staff as needed 

  • Conducts minor team research projects

  • Receives and distributes all postal mail and deliveries (U.S. Mail, UPS, and FedEx mail)

  • Maintains knowledge of mail and freight regulations and costs

  • Ensures there are funds available for large bulk mail outs

  • Orders necessary mailing materials

  • Purchases and distributes office supplies from various sources 

  • Purchases break room snacks 

  • Maintains workroom and staff breakroom

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

Up to 35 hours. Workdays are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, and Sunday, 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.


Qualifications:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate from High School or GED equivalent

  • Must type 45wpm

  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Agreement with and support for what we believe as a Church

  • Capable of demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, especially effective oral communication

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
