Pay: $ 17.85 per hour

Work schedule: Full Time, Days, Monday - Friday

Make a difference! Operated by the Management & Training Corporation, the East Texas Treatment Facility in Henderson, Texas, is seeking a dedicated professional to support education and counseling services within our Substance Abuse Felony Punishment Facility/ In-Prison Therapeutic Community programs.

What you'll do: In this role, you will help coordinate and implement program activities, collaborate across departments, and ensure resources are used effectively to support participant success while maintaining compliance with MTC and Texas Department of Criminal Justice standards.

Essential Functions:

  1. Supports didactic sessions according to designated curricula within the program.  Presents substance abuse education and life skills classes to assist offenders with basic education on these topics.
  2. Guides and assists offenders in complying with facility rules and regulations.  Supervises offender work functions in accordance with program policies such as morning wake up routines according to established schedules. 
  3. Monitors offender behavior and reports incidents, inappropriate or unusual behaviors to appropriate treatment team staff. Notifies appropriate personnel of offenders failing to comply with policies and procedures. 
  4. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
  5. Maintain accountability of staff, offenders and property; adhere to safety practices.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent (GED). 
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management. 

Post Hire Requirements:
Must attend Correctional Awareness Training (CAT) prior to inmate contact. Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
