Job description

CNC Programmer

Pay: $29.00–$34.00 per hour

Position Summary

Mid-South Machine is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Programmer and CNC Mill Programmer to join our machining team. This is a hands-on position in a job shop environment requiring the ability to independently program, set up, and machine a wide variety of precision components. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, enjoys challenging work, and takes pride in producing high-quality parts.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Full-time, on-site position
  • Day shift: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM
  • Overtime available on Fridays and Saturdays as needed
  • Climate-controlled facility (air conditioned and heated)
  • Clean, organized machine shop
  • Job shop environment with a wide variety of parts, materials, and production quantities

Responsibilities

  • Program CNC lathes from engineering drawings and customer specifications
  • Set up machines, tooling, and workholding for production
  • Machine parts to blueprint specifications and required tolerances
  • Inspect parts throughout the machining process to ensure quality standards are met
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on assigned equipment
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Work with supervisors and team members to improve quality and productivity

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of CNC lathe programming experience
  • Minimum 5 years of CNC machine setup experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
  • Ability to program from prints and CAD files (DWG, DXF, STEP/STP)
  • Experience machining to tolerances of ±0.001" or better
  • Experience operating and programming multi-axis CNC lathes or CNC Mills
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Mastercam CAD/CAM software
  • Experience with Okuma, Mazak, or Mori CNC machines
  • Experience in a high-mix, low-volume job shop environment
