Position Summary

Carmichael International Service is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Data Entry Specialist to join our Import Operations team. This position is responsible for opening files and entering data related to customs entries for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The ideal candidate will ensure all required documentation has been received, accurately create files within our operating system, and enter shipment information with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.


This role is ideal for someone with customs brokerage, freight forwarding, logistics, or international trade experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in maintaining exceptional attention to detail.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review incoming emails and shipment documentation.
  • Verify receipt of all required import and customs documents.
  • Open files in the company's operating system.
  • Accurately key shipment and customs data into internal systems.
  • Coordinate and communicate with operations personnel and team members regarding documentation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and files.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in documentation.
  • Meet established productivity and accuracy standards.
  • Assist with special projects and departmental needs as assigned.
  • Follow company procedures, compliance requirements, and operational standards.


Qualifications

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of industry-related experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, logistics, international trade, or a related field.

Required Skills

  • Strong data entry and keyboarding proficiency.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to learn and navigate industry-specific software systems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with customs brokerage software and import documentation systems.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) procedures and regulations.
  • Experience in freight forwarding, transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to process high volumes of data accurately and efficiently.

Work Environment

  • Open office environment with open cubicles, working in close proximity to others, with extensive computer use.
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Fast-paced operational environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Occasional overtime may be required to meet business demands.
