About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join a fast-paced team supporting financial and regulated systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in test automation, backend validation, API testing, SQL-based data verification, and compliance-focused quality assurance. This role requires close collaboration with engineering, accounting, controls, and audit stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality, compliant software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, and non-functional test plans across complex financial workflows.
  • Validate financial calculations, data integrity, and reconciliation between transactional and reporting systems using SQL.
  • Translate business, technical, compliance, and SOX requirements into comprehensive test cases.
  • Test role-based access controls, maker-checker workflows, segregation-of-duties controls, and negative user scenarios.
  • Perform API testing to validate integrations, workflow processing, and system behavior.
  • Validate event-driven architectures, including message delivery, processing order, idempotency, and error handling.
  • Ensure audit events are accurately generated, captured, and stored for controlled state changes across UI, APIs, and batch processes.
  • Test inbound and outbound integrations with third-party systems, ensuring schema compliance, completeness, and reconciliation.
  • Create audit-ready documentation, including test plans, test results, defect reports, and evidence packages.
  • Track and manage defects throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test suites integrated with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Generate and manage test data required for validation activities.
  • Analyze logs, query databases, and troubleshoot issues across application, integration, and data layers.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, release readiness reviews, and production support activities.
  • Contribute to QA process improvements, best practices, and testing standards.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Software Testing, or Test Engineering.
  • Experience supporting financial, fintech, banking, accounting, or other highly regulated systems.
  • Strong programming skills in Python with hands-on experience using pytest for automation testing.
  • Strong experience in test automation and CI/CD integration.
  • Advanced SQL skills for data validation, reconciliation, and backend testing.
  • Experience testing REST APIs using tools such as Postman, REST-assured, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with SOX compliance, internal controls testing, segregation-of-duties controls, and maker-checker workflows.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to produce clear, comprehensive, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical, business, and audit teams.
