The CNC Lathe Setup Operator is responsible for setting up CNC equipment/machines in an aerospace machine shop environment. This includes part loading, inspection, documentation and machine maintenance. Operators will be expected to take great pride in their work to assure consistent part quality and repeatability.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes.
  • Use of precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges and custom gauges to perform detailed inspection of parts.
  • Perform daily machine maintenance such as but not limited to: Checking levels of oil and coolant, clearing chips and greasing chuck.
  • Basic knowledge of G-Code and CNC operations.
  • Use of crane and loading fixtures to move parts in and out of machines.
  • Identify and replace worn cutting inserts.
  • Perform setup and in-process documentation of critical parts.
  • Knowledge of proper mechanical inspection practices.
