Job description

M1 Support Services is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic I – Fuels to primarily perform all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft and equipment maintenance, both on and off equipment, on assigned aircraft and equipment in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), M1 policy, DAFI 21-101(and supplements), as well as industry standards. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: • Conducts daily Fuel shop operations. • Assists with troubleshooting, Maintains, services and inspects aircraft fuels systems, components and related support equipment.

• Removes, installs and conducts functional tests of repaired aircraft systems and components. Inspects and identifies aircraft for corrosion prevention and repair. • Conducts daily aircraft launch and recovery operations, End-of-Runway inspections and aircraft inspections.

• Reads and interprets manufacturers and aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Performs periodic, hourly or calendar inspections, as required. • May be required to review and complete forms documentation pertinent to aircraft or equipment maintenance.

• May be required to enter maintenance actions into applicable MIS system and will make entries in forms, logs, records or electronic equipment, as required. • May be required to monitor and lead teams to perform more complex aircraft inspections and repairs. • Receives technical guidance from Managers, Supervisors, Leads or higher-level technicians, as required.

May be required to aid writing/initiating engineering technical assistance requests. • May be required to obtain and maintain special certifications as directed by management. • May perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft and equipment maintenance, both on and off equipment, on assigned aircraft and equipment in accordance with the work statement, Company Policy, AFI 21-101 and industry standards.

• May perform aircraft and equipment maintenance on other assigned MDS aircraft in a highly “cross-utilization/trained” environment. May be required to perform at a high level of competency in one or more of the following areas: repair and reclamation, egress, electro/environmental, APG, wheel & tire, structures, composite repair, propulsion, fuels, non-powered AGE, armament, munitions, non-destructive inspection (NDI), and pneudraulics. • May perform transient aircraft support, CDDAR team member or chief duties, Phase inspection dock team member or chief duties, Engine run certifier duties, QA augmentation, Hydrazine response and Wheel & Tire functions.

• Must complete all assignments and tasks as directed by Managers, Supervisors, Expediters, Leads and more senior technicians. • May be required to be trained on bomb lift use to load aircraft with various system pods, pylons or munitions. • May be required to perform weed removal and general clean-up of facilities assigned to the organization in accordance with the PWS.

Requirements may include sweeping, mopping, use of floor cleaning machine etc. • May be required to travel to receive training to assist other personnel and work centers as directed. • May perform vehicle use inspections, cleaning and wash duties.

Qualifications and Experience: • High School diploma or GED is required. • Minimum of four years’ experience performing aircraft fuels maintenance functions in a military environment and attainment of an Air Force 5 level (or equivalent) is required. Minimum 3 years of experience on F-16 (hydrazine) and/or HH-60 fuel systems.

Fuels experience in other AF MDSs or Sister Service aircraft will be considered. • Must speak, read, write, and understand English. • Must be able to work day shift, night shift or weekend duty and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team as required.

• Must deal with the customer and company employees in a courteous, professional and effective manner. • Must be reliable, self-motivated, and able to deal with stressful situations and timelines while maintaining a professional and nonconfrontational attitude. • Working knowledge of principles applying to aircraft systems, concepts and applications of maintenance directives, data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory.

• Knowledge of Air Force supply and efficiency reporting procedures is mandatory. • Knowledge of the proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials is mandatory. • Must be able to obtain/maintain the security clearance level as mandated by the government customer.

• Must possess a current valid U.S. Driver’s License. • May be required to obtain, maintain a government driver’s license.

If controlled movement area (CMA) access is required, individuals must pass a color vision test. • Must be able to move about both inside aircraft hangars and outside on aircraft ramps within close proximity of running equipment and aircraft. • Must have a working knowledge of computers (input/extract data) and basic computer software programs such as Word, Outlook, Power Point, and Excel.

• May be required to obtain/maintain aircraft and/or equipment Red X/IPI/ER certification, as required. • Position requires complying with unique commuting/travel requirements. Working Conditions: • Environment ranges from office to hangar and flight line and requires extensive sitting, climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands.

• Must be physically capable of performing all assigned duties. Minimum physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 35 pounds. • Must be able and willing to meet OSHA, DCMA or additional industrial requirements including, hearing test, vision test to include color vision, respirator fit test and blood draw etc.
