The Director of Interior Design will establish and lead Thuma’s interior design practice, serving as the company’s interior design expert across Retail, Merchandising, Product Development, Brand, Creative, and B2B. This leader will help shape how customers experience our brand—from designing our most important customer projects to influencing photography, catalogs, web imagery, retail training, and new store openings.

Because this is a foundational role, no two weeks will look the same. Priorities will shift based on the needs of the business, requiring the Director of Interior Design to balance strategic leadership with hands‑on design execution wherever they can have the greatest impact.

This role is ideal for an experienced interior designer who is excited to help build Thuma’s interior design capability from the ground up. The ideal candidate combines exceptional taste with a bias for execution, enjoys working cross‑functionally, and is energized by bringing thoughtful design to life in ways that are both inspiring and commercially successful.

• Establish and lead Thuma’s interior design practice.
• Define the design principles that help create Oasis across every customer touchpoint.
• Serve as the company’s interior design expert and trusted partner across the organization.
• Build and evolve the foundation of interior design at Thuma, creating standards, principles, and best practices that scale with the business.

• Lead the interior design direction for Thuma’s most significant Retail, Trade, Contract, and B2B projects.
• Partner with stores to support complex customer projects and deliver exceptional design solutions.
• Personally lead high‑impact design engagements that showcase Thuma’s design philosophy and create Oasis for our customers.

• Partner with Store Operations to develop interior design training, tools, and best practices.
• Help retail teams confidently guide customers in creating thoughtful, cohesive homes.
• Support new store openings and key initiatives with interior design expertise.

• Partner with Brand and Creative to shape the interior design direction of catalogs, photography, web imagery, marketing campaigns, and other brand content.
• Collaborate on photoshoots and creative productions to create inspiring, authentic interiors that express Thuma’s design philosophy.

• Partner across Merchandising, Product Development, Retail, and Brand to bring an interior designer’s perspective to key business initiatives.
• Influence product presentation, storytelling, and customer experiences through the lens of exceptional interior design.
• Help build a world‑class interior design capability that supports Thuma’s long‑term growth.

• 8–10+ years of experience in residential interior design, hospitality, luxury retail, or a design‑led consumer brand.
• Exceptional taste and a deep understanding of furniture, lighting, textiles, art, materials, styling, and home design.
• Experience leading high‑profile residential or commercial design projects.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

$175,000 - $200,000 a year

Thuma provides an estimate of the compensation for roles that may be hired as required by state regulations. Compensation may vary based on (a) location, as Thuma factors in specific location when benchmarking compensation for most roles; (b) individual candidate skills and qualifications; and (c) individual candidate experience.
