Job description

The Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel is seeking a dependable and hardworking Substitute Barback to support our bartenders and ensure seamless bar operations to fill a temporary Barback role until further notice.. This essential role works behind the scenes to help create an outstanding guest experience by keeping all bar areas fully stocked, clean, and well-organized throughout service. Located in the heart of Manhattan, our busy hotel bar serves a mix of international travelers, business professionals, and local guests, offering a fast-paced and rewarding work environment. This is a 530pm to 1am closing shift with a heavy focus on detailed cleaning and breakdown of the bar.
As a Barback, you will be responsible for preparing the bar each day by restocking liquor, wine, beer, mixers, garnishes, and all other supplies needed for efficient service. You will assist with the setup and breakdown of the bar, maintain the cleanliness of all bar areas, and ensure glassware and waste are managed promptly and safely. Supporting the bartenders, you'll help replace kegs, prep garnishes, and maintain the organization of storage areas. Running food for all bar orders is also an integral part of your job.You'll also follow hotel safety and sanitation procedures and help respond to guest requests when appropriate, always maintaining the high service standards expected at the Sheraton.
Ideal candidates will have previous experience in a hospitality or bar setting, though on-the-job training may be provided. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods. Strong communication skills, a positive team attitude, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays are essential. Applicants must also meet legal age requirements to handle alcohol in New York State.
