Room Attendant
Location :
Best Western Mill River Manor
73 Sunrise Highway | Rockville Centre, NY | 11570
Pay Rate: $19/hr
SUMMARY:
The Room Attendant plays a vital role in shaping the guest experience by ensuring every guestroom is clean, comfortable, and presented to the highest standard of hospitality. As one of the few associates who enters every guestroom each day, the Room Attendant is both a caretaker of the property and a frontline ambassador of hospitality - often the only hotel associate a guest encounters during their stay outside of the front desk. We are looking for a detail-oriented, reliable individual who takes pride in delivering a spotless, welcoming environment for every guest.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Guestroom Cleaning & Servicing
  • Clean and service guestrooms and suites according to established hotel and brand standards, including departure cleans, stay-overs, and turndown service as applicable.
  • Make beds, change and properly fold linens, and replace towels according to hotel standards.
  • Dust, vacuum, sweep, and mop all guestroom surfaces and floors; clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces to a streak-free finish.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including tubs, showers, toilets, sinks, and tile, in accordance with hotel cleanliness protocols.
  • Restock guestroom amenities, toiletries, glassware, coffee/tea service, and other in-room supplies to par levels.
  • Inspect guestrooms for damage, missing items, or maintenance issues; report findings promptly to a supervisor.
  • Know how to clean guest rooms to standards consistent with brand and M&R Hospitality Management expectations.
  • Properly arrange furniture, fixtures, and decorative items to standard room presentation upon completion of cleaning.

Cart, Supply & Linen Management
  • Stock and organize housekeeping cart at the start of each shift with the appropriate linens, amenities, and cleaning supplies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe housekeeping cart and storage closet throughout the shift.
  • Properly handle, sort, and transport soiled linens to designated laundry areas; retrieve clean linen supplies as needed.
  • Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hotel safety protocols.
  • Report low supply levels or equipment malfunctions to the Housekeeping Manager.

Guest Interaction & Service
  • Provide the highest quality of service to guests at all times; promptly and courteously respond to any guest requests encountered while servicing rooms or common areas.
  • Greet guests warmly and professionally when encountered in hallways, guestrooms, or common areas.
  • Handle guest requests for additional amenities, linens, or room items promptly and follow up to ensure satisfaction.
  • Pass on guest lost and found inquiries and items to management or supervisors per established procedures.
  • Inform management immediately of any guest complaints, unusual activity, or service concerns observed while on shift.

Communication & Coordination
  • Accurately update room status (clean, dirty, inspected, out of order) per hotel procedures to support accurate Front Desk reporting.
  • Communicate with the Housekeeping Manager by logging pertinent information as required.
  • Keep Maintenance informed of all maintenance needs identified in guestrooms or corridors.
  • Notify management or security immediately of any safety hazards, suspicious activity, or emergency situations.

Safety, Security & Standards
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of hotel emergency and security procedures; practice safety standards at all times.
  • Follow all key control procedures; never prop open guestroom doors or leave keys unattended.
  • Keep all assigned work areas, corridors, and back-of-house spaces clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
  • Wear the proper uniform at all times in accordance with M&R Standards of Appearance.
  • Follow all rules as outlined in the M&R Employee Handbook.
  • Be able to move luggage, linens, or supply packages weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, consistent with the capabilities of this role.

Qualification
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior housekeeping, cleaning, or hospitality experience preferred but not required; training provided.
  • Experience in a hotel environment is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing consistently high-quality, presentable guestrooms.
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision while meeting daily room quotas.
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive cleaning tasks throughout an entire shift.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Courteous, professional demeanor when interacting with guests and fellow associates.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and established cleaning checklists consistently.
