They often deliver urgent or expedited shipments over short to medium distances, serving industries such as oil and gas, construction, and manufacturing. These drivers hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and are responsible for loading, securing, and delivering cargo efficiently and safely. Hot shot trucking allows for more flexibility compared to traditional long-haul trucking, and drivers often operate as independent contractors or small business owners.
