Job description

Position Summary: Under limited supervisor, the Male Engagement Family Coachcollaborates with the treatment team to recruit and engage male family members in services and keeps them engaged in services. Conducts home visits and outreach, assists with Celebrating Families! groups, conducts in-person and virtual focus groups of male family members to better tailor services to the unique needs and perspectives of this group, and completes follow-up sessions. This position is subject to working evenings. No smoking workplace
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Provides outreach and engagement of male family members in MIRRORS+ services; conducts home visits and virtual services as needed.
  • Assists with Celebrating Families! groups, encouraging male family participation, facilitates NP Nurturing Fathers curriculum and father focused support groups.
  • Conducts in-person focus groups of male family members to better tailor services to the unique needs and perspectives of this group.
  • Participates in scheduled training and meetings, as necessary.
  • Participates in program data collection and submission as needed to meet project goals.
  • Maintains records and completes appropriate documentation.

Education/Experience:
Master's degree in social work or related field or Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LPC, LMFT, LCDCor equivalent); 3+ years' experience providing individual and group education/counseling and principles of case management for diverse, high-risk PPW, children, and families in SUD treatment/social services settings; Experience implementing/practicing evidence-based practices, such as Trauma Informed Care and Motivational Interviewing, and delivery of curriculum-based education. Knowledge of addiction as a chronic relapsing disorder and principles of effective treatment. Understanding of issues related to trauma, abuse and neglect, violence, PTSD, and co-occurring disorders.
Certificates and Licenses:
Must have current Counselor license from Texas Department of State and Health Services. Drug and Alcohol Counselor Licensure (LCDC) plus two (2) years' experience working in social services field. With two year's substance abuse treatment experience the following licensure may be substituted for an LCDC: Licensed Clinical Master Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). If driving on SMH business, must have a valid Texas Driver's License and provide proof of current insurance.
Approval Requirements:
Position may require approval from TDCJ and HCCSCD.
