Job description

Join Our Team as a Housekeeping Associate at HI LASanta Monica Hostel!

Would you love to interact with travelers from all around the world and ensure they have a comfortable stay? Join HI USA at our Santa Monica hostel, located on vibrant 2nd St. We are currently accepting applications for Housekeeping Associates who will help maintain our hostel's welcoming and clean environment, enhancing the guest experience. 

  

Position Details:

  

Pay: $19.80 – 20.20 per hour 

Type: Part Time (24 hours/week)

Benefits: Paid Time Off and Paid Sick Leave (New Hire waiting periods apply).

Role Objectives & Responsibilities:

- Clean and prepare guest rooms, dorms, and bathrooms

- Mop, vacuum, and sweep hostel grounds daily

- Perform laundry room functions, including washing, sorting, folding, and stocking

- Change and wash bed linens, bedspreads, blankets, and towels

- Wash and put away kitchen dishes and utensils

- Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, and tubs/showers; restock soap and toilet paper as needed

- Wash windows and window coverings

- Dust countertops, dresser tops, furniture, paintings, and door jambs

- Empty trash cans and recycling daily

- Report broken items to management

- Ensure all unnecessary lights are turned off

- Maintain inventory of housekeeping supplies

- Assist with light maintenance, kitchen maintenance, and groundskeeping as required  

Skills/Qualifications:

- Minimum six months of hostel or hotel housekeeping experience preferred  

- Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team

- Customer service experience is a plus

- Strong attention to detail

- Ability to multi-task

- Must be willing to work evenings, overnight, weekends, and holidays as required

Physical Requirements:  

- Regularly required to sit, use hands and arms  

- Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, and hear  

- Occasionally required to climb or balance  

- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds  

- Specific vision abilities required: close, peripheral, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus  

- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
