Description
BETA is seeking an experienced Wastewater Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex wastewater treatment facility projects for municipal and public-sector clients. This leadership role offers the opportunity to manage high-profile treatment facility upgrades, expansions, and new developments while working alongside industry-leading professionals. The successful candidate will oversee projects from planning through construction, lead multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and provide technical leadership in wastewater treatment facility design. This position plays a key role in BETA's continued growth and offers opportunities to mentor other employee-owners, drive innovation, and deliver impactful infrastructure solutions.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage wastewater treatment facility projects from scope development, budgeting, and scheduling through design, permitting, bidding, and construction phase services
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams on wastewater treatment plant upgrades, expansions, rehabilitation projects, and new facility developments
  • Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of wastewater treatment processes, including pumping stations, solids handling systems, and related infrastructure
  • Direct the preparation and review of facility plans, engineering reports, process evaluations, technical specifications, and construction contract documents
  • Provide technical leadership and quality assurance for wastewater treatment facility designs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, client objectives, and industry best practices
  • Mentor and develop engineering staff by providing technical guidance, reviewing work products, and supporting professional growth
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor throughout project delivery
  • Lead project meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and project teams
  • Negotiate contracts, develop scopes of work, and manage project financial performance
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation, client engagement, and pursuit of new wastewater treatment opportunities
  • Stay current with emerging wastewater treatment technologies & regulatory trends

Preferred location is BETA's Lincoln, RI office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.

Requirements
Required Experience/Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • 15+ years of related engineering experience in wastewater projects
  • Project Management experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with the implementation of planning, design, bidding and construction oversight of wastewater projects
  • Skilled in writing and ability to prepare formal reports
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Must be able to collect field data and measurements and perform asset inspections for water and wastewater infrastructure, in addition to other utility assets;
  • Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
