Job description

FOSSIL RIM WILDLIFE CENTER invites applicants for the position:
Support Services Associate
Hourly Pay Rate $19-$21
Summary/Purpose of Position: The purposes of this position of โ€œSupport Services Associateโ€ are to include, but not be limited to: the upkeep and improvement of landscape, assist when needed in Repairs amp; Improvements (maintenance), whole property of Fossil Rim and on any other property owned or leased by Fossil Rim. The term โ€œinfrastructureโ€ is to include everything that is man-made on the property above and below ground, and which is integral to the operation and functioning of Fossil Rim. Landscape is to include lawns, yards, beds (improved/planted areas), pastures and forage production and natural resources for native and managed wildlife.
Specific/Mandatory Duties: The essential responsibilities of the Support Services Associate include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
โ€ข Forage production
โ€ข Basic carpentry
โ€ข Basic plumbing
โ€ข Basic electrical
โ€ข Clean and maintain garden equipment
โ€ข Provide basic support for entire facility, including garbage removal, customer service in general and patrolling roadways
โ€ข Regular and dependable attendance is required
โ€ข Be available for after-hours and weekend call out in emergencies
โ€ข Able to lift and carry 100 pounds
โ€ข Be able to bend over
โ€ข Ability to spend up to 2/3 of the workday standing/walking
โ€ข Ability to work outside all day in weather ranging from extreme heat +100 degrees to extreme cold, below freezing and in wet conditions
โ€ข Ability to drive and/or operate small maintenance equipment (ex. chainsaw, weed trimmer, mower, hand tools, truck and lawn tractor)
โ€ข Ability to drive and operate farm and heavy equipment (ex. tractor, balers, road grater, etc)
โ€ข Ensure compliance with Employee Handbook, Risk Management Plan, all other safety rules amp; procedures, the company vision, mission and goals
The secondary responsibilities of the Support Services Associate include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
โ€ข Assist when needed in Repairs amp; Improvements (maintenance)
โ€ข Be able to assist with maintaining hay fields
โ€ข Be able to pull a trailer safely
โ€ข Carry out other duties as assigned by Support Services Managers
Skills and Education Requirements:
โ€ข Must be able to operate equipment normally associated with gardening and farming.
โ€ข Must be able to understand and follow directions.
โ€ข Capable of safely operating powered equipment.
โ€ข Must be able to use hand tools such as hoes, rakes, and spades as well as use and maintain gas or electric powered tools and equipment such as mowers and tillers, electric clippers, edgers and chainsaws. Will be required to maintain and repair tools and equipment.
โ€ข Primary contacts will be with Managers and internal staff members as necessary to carry out general duties of the position.
Work Requirements: This position is Essential to Fossil Rim throughout the year and during times when Fossil Rim is closed due to unexpected events, any Essential employee that is scheduled to work must work as scheduled. Usually a 5-day work week, often requiring flexibility and ability to work weekends and holidays. Irregular scheduling in which days may exceed 8hours, and weeks may exceed five days
