Job description

Security Officer

FTE:.6 Shift: Day Schedule: two 10 hr shifts and one 4 hr shift

Prior experience with individuals living with a mental health condition or experiencing homelessness preferred

Position Summary

The Security Officer is a key position on our Security Services team. In this role, you provide protection over MultiCare Health System properties and facilities. You will own the responsibility for the security and safety of MultiCare patients, employees, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct general security in the protection of people and property and the enforcement of all applicable policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Deter criminal activity and misconduct utilizing tactical techniques.
  • Utilize Management of Aggressive Behavior skills both verbally and physically as required.
  • Apply the concepts of Awareness, Vigilance, Avoidance, Defense, and Escape to effectively protect and serve facility campus.
  • Utilize weapons detection devices to monitor patients/visitors and ensuring the removal of contraband from facility.
  • Apply appropriate techniques with assistive devices when engaging with combative/aggressive individuals.
  • Effectively operate/leverage required security equipment and tools.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Current Washington or Idaho state driver's license (driving is not required for this position at Navos Hospital).
  • IAHSS basic certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire date.
  • Minimum six (6) months of experience in police, military, or security, preferable in a health care setting.
  • Proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MultiCare Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state. (Not required at Navos Hospital)
  • BLS certification or obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • First Aid training within 30 days of hire.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $24.83 - $35.71 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
