Responsibilities for Hospital Security Guard

  • Conduct regular patrols to monitor for suspicious activity and maintain the safety and security of hospital facilities.
  • Control access points and verify identities to ensure only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
  • Operate walk-through and handheld metal detectors to screen patients, visitors, staff, and contractors in accordance with hospital security policies.
  • Provide clear instructions and maintain a respectful, professional approach during security screening.
  • Maintain a calm presence in a high-stress healthcare environment, including during emergencies or high-volume periods.
  • Assist with patient safety, including monitoring missing or wandering patients and supporting patient watch duties.
  • Respond to incidents such as Code White events, fire alarms, aggression, or security threats.
  • De-escalate conflicts and intervene when necessary to maintain safety.
  • Monitor and inspect security equipment including CCTV, panic alarms, and fire safety systems.
  • Maintain detailed incident reports and communicate security concerns with hospital staff and supervisors.
  • Support law enforcement and emergency responders during serious incidents.

 

Qualifications for Hospital Security Guard

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Valid Saskatchewan Security Guard License (or willing to obtain – we can assist with the process)
  • Clear criminal background check
  • First Aid/CPR certification considered an asset
  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift
  • Ability to work independently and remain alert in a dynamic environment
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies
  • Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Comfortable using workplace technology; experience with CCTV systems considered an asset
