Description
Job Summary:
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical setting. Communicates with physicians, nurse supervisor, and coworkers as appropriate about changes in patient's clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Can respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatments. Additionally, can perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care: Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, performing procedures, and monitoring patient status.
  • Assessment: Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to determine care needs and document findings.
  • Care Planning: Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Monitoring: Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond appropriately.
  • Education: Educate patients and their families about medical conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as state and federal guidelines.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of [State].
  • Experience: Previous experience in a medical-surgical setting preferred.
  • Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification preferred.
  • Skills: Strong clinical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move patients as necessary.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Ability to handle physical and emotional stress.

Work Schedule:
  • Regular schedule is based on patient volume and surgical schedule. Schedule is set by the Nursing Management prior to shift's start.
